IoT Locks and Smart Manhole Covers Enhance Urban Security

Sichuan Telecom ventured into an innovative integration of IoT-driven lock technology with intelligent manhole cover management. This dual-function solution was designed to address two pressing challenges in urban infrastructure: physical security and environmental monitoring.

In this project, every lock and manhole cover became a node in a vast, interconnected network. Continuous data collection on lock status and environmental parameters — such as temperature and humidity — allowed operators to detect potential issues well before they could escalate. The unified platform enabled simultaneous monitoring of multiple sites, creating a cohesive view of urban safety. This narrative reflects a forward-thinking approach where the boundaries between separate systems blur, resulting in an integrated solution that enhances both security and maintenance capabilities.
